Meet Jack Anderson – Trainee Calibration Technician

We’re pleased to welcome Jack Anderson to the Interface Force team as our new Trainee Calibration Technician.

Jack has joined us at an exciting time, with our calibration capabilities continuing to develop, and brings with him an interesting and varied background built around science, practical problem-solving and a genuine enthusiasm for learning.

From Zoology to Calibration

Before joining Interface Force, Jack’s career took him through several very different environments.

His early work was rooted in zoology, where he gained experience as an animal keeper, worked in animal behaviour consultancy and also spent time teaching. He later moved into disease research before deciding that life outdoors was a better fit.

That decision led to six years working as an adventure sports coach, where Jack taught activities including rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing and expedition leadership.

It may not be the most conventional route into calibration, but the combination of scientific thinking, practical skills and attention to detail provides a strong foundation for his new role.

Joining the Interface Force Calibration Team

Jack has joined Interface Force as a Trainee Calibration Technician and will be working within our calibration laboratory.

His focus will be on building his technical knowledge, developing hands-on calibration skills and learning from the experience already within the team.

For Jack, the role offers the opportunity to begin a new technical career in an area where accuracy, consistency and problem-solving are central to the work.

As our own calibration capabilities continue to grow, he will become part of the team supporting customers who rely on accurate force measurement equipment and dependable calibration services.

Life Outside Work

Away from the calibration laboratory, Jack spends a great deal of his time being active.

Rock climbing is one of his biggest interests, both indoors and outdoors, with Dorset being a particular favourite when it comes to climbing on natural rock. More recently, he has also started bridge climbing.

Watersports feature heavily too. Jack enjoys kayaking and paddleboarding and is currently learning how to sail.

He is also a keen skateboarder, with surf skating being his main interest so far, although he is now beginning to explore more traditional street and trick skating as well.

Books, Warhammer and Two Very Lively Dogs

When he isn’t climbing, paddling or skateboarding, Jack is also an enthusiastic reader.

His interests cover everything from fantasy and science fiction to scientific literature and history, so there is usually something varied on his bookshelf.

He is also a Warhammer 40,000 fan and regularly plays with friends, commanding an Ork army.

At home, Jack has two Jack Russell–Beagle crosses, Smudge and Milo, who provide another source of entertainment when things become a little quieter.

Always Looking to Learn Something New

Jack describes himself as enthusiastic, light-hearted and naturally curious.

That curiosity is reflected both in the range of activities he enjoys outside work and in his approach to his new career.

He enjoys developing new skills, taking on unfamiliar challenges and continuing to learn — qualities that should serve him particularly well as he develops his knowledge and experience within calibration.

We’re delighted to have Jack on board and look forward to seeing him grow into his new role as part of the Interface Force team.
