Destec manufactures the Desflex Compact Flange as a weld neck design, giving a direct, fully welded connection between the flange and the pipe rather than relying on a slip-on or threaded arrangement. This weld neck construction supports the flange's overall fatigue performance, since the smooth transition from pipe to flange bore reduces the stress concentration points that can develop at a threaded or slip-on connection under cyclic loading. Both standard and swivel weld neck versions are manufactured, in carbon, stainless, alloy and duplex steels, with every flange built to ASME VIII Div 1 and Div 2 and carrying Type Approval and a passed API fire test. The weld neck design also suits the flange's use in high pressure and subsea applications, where a fully welded connection is generally preferred over other end preparations for both integrity and inspection purposes.
