Cold quench conditions and thermal cycling cause most of the leakage problems seen in conventional compressible joints, and the G-Range connector is specifically designed to resist both. The seal ring's flexibility compensates for movement during thermal transient conditions, keeping the seal intact where a standard gasketed flange might start to weep. This makes the connector well suited to plant that sees frequent start-up and shutdown cycles, or process lines exposed to sudden temperature changes during operation. The higher the pressure and the more severe the thermal cycling, the more the G-Range design earns its place over a conventional flanged joint.
