Subsea Connectors

The Destec GSB Single Bolt Subsea Connector is purpose designed for subsea connection work where a conventional four bolt G-Range pipe connection would be impractical. Each unit is supplied with a mounting plate that can, where needed, accommodate guidance or pull-in systems for easier alignment, along with provision for stab connectors for electrical and hydraulic circuits. Sealing can use Destec's standard G-Range or D-Range metal-to-metal seal rings, or the customer's own sealing arrangement. Larger sizes and special configurations, including dual bore, multi bore and concentric bore designs, are also available, and some GSB connectors have been supplied with fabricated spool pieces for mating to flexible risers. For subsea use, the connectors are typically finished with a combination of Molykote and epoxy resin coatings, built for remote operation in deep and ultra-deep water. Alongside the standard clamp type connector, Destec built the single bolt range for situations where repeated assembly, ROV operation or powered drive make a single bolt connector the better choice, and the company now has many years of experience supplying these units across a wide range of sizes, materials and pressure ratings.

Destec's conical seal rings keep the units compact and cost effective, which matters where weight is a concern. Key features include weight saving through Destec's metal seal rings and high strength heat-treated, tempered materials for the clamps; coatings suited to most environments, subsea included; seal rings that can be permanent, removable or replaced by a remote operated tool; manual, air, hydraulic or electric drive options; full limit and safety controls; standard API torque receptacles and guides for ROV operation; secondary sealing with tappings for leakage monitoring, including stab connector provision for subsea use; and the option of multiple pipe connectors within a single large clamp. The GSB clampset is supplied with a mounting plate and stab connector provision, includes guidance and pull-in systems for alignment, and covers sizes from 2 inch to 60 inch, built to ASME VIII, API and BS codes. Clamps can mount in any orientation, vertical or horizontal, and are designed for a service life in excess of 25 years, with trouble-free remote installation and ROV pull-in compatibility. Pressure ranges run to 3000, 5000, 10000, 15000 and 20000 psi, with seal replacement possible using ROV carried tools, a seal test arrangement included as standard, a soft landing cylinder function, and standard API torque receptacles fitted throughout. Every size carries Lloyds design verification and appraisal, and units are functionally and pressure tested up to 30000 psi, with FAT testing carried out before dispatch.
