Destec supplies seal rings designed to incorporate orifice plates, chokes or blinds directly within the sealing element, allowing a flow restriction or measurement device to be built into the joint rather than fitted as a separate in-line component. Large orifices requiring seals of 200mm diameter and above are normally supplied as a wafer designed to fit between flanges, using two seal rings either side of the wafer to maintain sealing integrity on both faces. The same principle applies to blind seal rings, which would otherwise carry pressure limitations if incorporated directly as part of a single seal ring rather than supplied as a separate wafer arrangement. Orifice and blind seal rings retain the same reusable, all-metal construction as the rest of the Destec range, so the metering, restriction or isolation function does not come at the cost of the sealing reliability operators expect from the standard seal ring design.
