Destec manufactures a range of heavy duty seal rings specifically to meet the requirements of very deep sea applications, where external pressure acting on the connector from the surrounding water column adds a loading condition that shallower installations do not experience. These heavy duty seal rings are designed to take high external pressure and to withstand high flange shear loads without relying on spigots to locate and support the joint, simplifying the connection geometry at depth. The design draws on the same modified cone ring sealing principle used across Destec's standard seal ring range, adapted in material and section to handle the combined internal and external pressure conditions found in deep sea service.
