Fire testing sits alongside the flange's Type Approval status and its compliance with ASME VIII Div 1 and Div 2, so the flange carries three separate layers of design verification before it is ever installed on a project. This matters particularly on offshore platforms and onshore process plant handling hydrocarbons, where a flange failure during a fire event can turn a contained incident into an escalating one.
