The double cone design maintains the same fundamental sealing principle as the smaller single cone seal rings, using the taper joint faces on assembly to compress the ring radially and generate the stored sealing force that intensifies further under internal pressure. Double cone seal rings are manufactured in the full range of Destec seal ring materials, from carbon and alloy steels through to Inconel, and can be supplied with a central rib where the diameter exceeds 200mm to maintain seating stress while controlling overall ring width. This construction gives operators a proven, reusable sealing solution across the mid to large diameter range without needing to step up to a bespoke or heavy duty design.
