Brooks Forgings has established itself as one of the UK’s leading hot-forming specialists, excelling in the manipulation of rounds, squares, and flats into intricate shapes.

In a recent project, we were tasked with forming 50mm diameter solid bars into a cranked hook shape. Using a blend of manual and mechanical processes, we successfully shaped the bar, achieving a main loop with an inner radius of 140mm (280mm in diameter).

Our client required that the bar maintain its consistency and smoothness without any deformation in the bends—a standard we met by employing specially designed tooling.

A total of eight formed hooks were delivered to our customer, ready for final preparation and fabrication for the end user.
