Why Electric Vehicle Battery Temperature Matters to Ford
Lithium-ion EV batteries are highly sensitive to temperature, performing best within roughly 15 to 35 degrees Celsius, with performance, efficiency and lifespan all suffering outside that window. Ford recognised this and implemented DDM measurement sensors specifically to monitor coolant flow and protect battery lifetime and long-term sustainability. At the centre of the solution sits the DDM VCT High Precision Flow Sensor, which measures coolant flow rate and temperature simultaneously, giving direct insight into how well the thermal management system is performing. Paired with a VCA or VCA-T flow computer, the system can track up to ten different fluid curves, covering multiple coolant mix ratios and viscosity profiles, all pre-programmed at manufacture, so Ford's thermal management data reflects the actual coolant blend in use rather than a generic assumption.Visit the Interface Force Measurements Ltd website for more information on Why Electric Vehicle Battery Temperature Matters to Ford
