Aerospace: Inflatable Space Habitat

Inflatable space habitats represent one of the newer directions in space industry design, creating living and working space for humans beyond Earth's atmosphere, and testing the material and design before it's ever inflated in orbit is essential. A space company wanted to test the overall design and material of an inflatable habitat by conducting a controlled burst test. Multiple clevises and LP Stainless Steel Load Pins are woven into the webbing material forming the habitat's base structure, connected to a BX8-HD44 BlueDAQ Series Data Acquisition System. As internal pressure increases steadily until the habitat bursts, the load pins capture exactly how much force the heavy-duty fabric can withstand at each pressure level, with data displayed, recorded and graphed via the supplied BlueDAQ software.
