Concept
For this particular project our customer already produced the components using single-op tooling and hand forming. They came to us as the needed to improve productivity and cut-down the manufacturing costs.
After deciding on the concept, a five stage transfer tool, we then put forward our proposal. Once accepted we then then move on to the design process.
Design
This design needed careful consideration from a manufacturing point of view as well as the production view. The tooling would be required to manufacture eight sizes of component with as little down time as possible between size changes. The final design consists of a five stage transfer tool with interchangeable cassette tools for the size variants fed by a roll feed and transfer system all plc controlled and monitored.
Manufacture
When we finalised the design and had it approved by the customer we then proceeded to manufacture. To manufacture this tooling package we utilise all of our technology and expertise, on a project like this we produced fully detailed drawings this then allows us to manufacture most of the parts to a finished stage with very little fitting required.
The Press
For this project the customer has supplied us with the press, we also work closely with press manufacturers so we can provide new and reconditioned presses. In this case the press was in good condition other than its electrics. We therefore integrated the plc into the press to place the faulty press electronics.
