Flintec manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka have achieved ISO14001:2004 certification, certifying Flintec’s environmental management system.
The ISO14001 standard is a framework for managing the immediate and long term impact to the environment from an organisations business practices.
To achieve certification, Flintec has put in place a robust environmental management system by developing policies, procedures and protocols to ensure that our environmental footprint is kept to a minimum, whilst our manufacturing outputs increase year on year.
Our aim is to substantially reduce the impact of our manufacturing processes on the health and well-being of our employees, and the natural environment surrounding our facilities. Recent investments include:
A clean air recovery system
New, energy efficient milling machinery
Rain water harvesting technology
Material recycling equipment to reduce waste
The removal of harmful chemicals from our cleaning/degreasing processes
Flintec has also began to reduce packaging waste, with emphasis on the use of recyclable materials where possible.
A comprehensive staff training program has been established, providing our manufacturing workforce with the knowledge and skills required for adhering to the Flintec environmental management system.
In line with procedure, we will continually review our environmental impact, and to improve training for staff. We plan to develop our ISO14001 certification further in 2017 by working towards ISO14001:2015.
